Lily was born in Scotland to two very loving parents. Her mother is an heiress and her father was a farm boy. Quite the unlikely couple, but you can't help who you love. When Lily was 10, her parents moved to England where her father got a job on a local farm. He usually lived on the farm, while Lily and her mother lived in a beautiful country house.
When Lily was 12 her father was killed. Her mother never told her how he was killed, all she said was that he was dead. Lily and her father were like bestfriends. She loved him more then anything and with him gone she didn't know what to do. Lily and her mother didn't always see eye to eye, but they got along when it counted. When Lily was 16 she was sent away to a all girls boarding school which she ran away from constantly. Lily wasn't the type to sit like a lady and learn how to be a lady. She'd rather wear a comfy pair of riding breeches and a guys shirt. However when she had to, she'd put on a dress, and amazingly she looked rather good in a dress.
Lily returned to their country home at the age of 19 to discover that her mother had fled to America. She didn't say why she had gone, but she said she had left Lily enough money for a boat ticket to meet her there. Two days later on her 20th birthday, Lily heard about the Titanic and that she'd be setting sail for America. So she took that money and went and bought herself a second class ticket. She would have sprung for first class, but her mother was a famous heriess and she really didn't want people to attack her with questions as to why her mother left her only child alone.
